Remote Workers / Virtual Private Network (VPN)
Business and traveler solutions
Virtual Private Networking (VPN) can do MANY things for both businesses and Remote Workers. 260 Custom Computer has experience in setting up and deploying both types VPN's for digital nomads and remote business users.
For businesses, a VPN can provide a secure connection between remote workers and the company network. This allows for secure access to company resources and data in a secure manner. It also provides a secure connection for remote workers to access the internet. In this case the VPN hardware is installed at the business site. The client machine will have a VPN client installed on it. The client will connect to the VPN at the business site and then have access to the company network and the internet.
For the "digital nomad", or the remote worker, a VPN can provide a secure connection to your home network. This allows for secure access to your home network and the internet while showing your company that you work for that you are located at your home.
For example, your company knows that you are working from home, but you want to spend a month working from your friends house in France. Chances are your work issued computer wont work in another country... Companies often block access to corporate networks based on geographic location and often log the place from which your normally log into the corporate network. With that company issued laptop, you often are not able to install "non-approved" software on the company laptop, which means you wont be able to use a generic "VPN" program that some random video ad recommended to you on facebook. The solution that 260 Custom Computer can offer is a portable VPN adapter that will allow you to connect to your home network and the internet. All the company will see is that you have logged on from your home. Not only does this solution offer VPN services but it can also offer ad blocking and additional seccurity features that you will really like. This is a two step approach in terms of hardware. A device at your home and a portable device that you will take with you when you travel. Serveral options are available, with prices starting at around $500 dollars, harware and labor for configuring the devices.
